45 km from Sigogne is the ancient city of Saintes, founded around the first century AD, famous for its Roman amphitheatre and other cultural activities and another good centre for shopping.

Visit the lively seaside resort Royan, the Capital of the “Côte de beauté”. Royan is located at the mouth of the Gironde Estuary, the largest estuary in Europe. Royan has five sandy beaches, a marina and a fishing port.
120 km La Rochelle, based around the historic harbour is protected by three towers at the harbour entrance. It is a town full of life, with endless boutiques and terraces and restaurants, you can’t get the fish fresher! Or visit Ile de Ré, a 30 km long island with beautiful sandy beaches and row upon row of oyster beds. Take a boat ride along Fort Boyard, where the game show was held. (You cannot visit the fort).
Fouras is also worth a visit, with a lovely centre, a fun crazy golf park, great restaurants, a fortress, sandy beach, boat trips, etc.
